After the death of a friend or loved one, many people find closure and relief in scattering the ashes in a favorite place or memorable location. There is no true right or wrong process for a Scattering at Sea Service. This is a very personal moment that is tailored to the family and friends’ preferences.
Captain Pam of Flicka will be happy to recite any of the following poems and prayers on your behalf at the Burial at Sea Memorial:
“Burial at Sea Prayer: for Sailor”
Oh God, we pray thee that the memory of our (family member, Friend) be ever sacred in our hearts,
… and that the sacrifice which they have offered for cause may be acceptable in thy sight.
… and may this sailor find repose with the sea in which he gave his life that we might live.
Into thy hands, oh Lord, we commend the soul of thy servant departed,
now called unto eternal rest, and we commit his body to the deep.

Captain Pam is the best! She helped us spread my parents’ ashes off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard and could have not imagined a more perfect experience. Once I booked with her, she made sure to keep in regular connection regarding the weather so we could have the best timing. She made the actual experience on the boat so special for us – so many nice touches like rolling out a welcome mat and having a centerpiece with my parents’ names. And she was the perfect mix of formal and respectful and friendly and familiar. I am so grateful that I found her – it was the absolute best way to send my parents off to a place they loved and was home to them. Thank you, Captain Pam!!!
Hello Captain Pam,Memories of this past Wednesday, which began with a small gathering at Seafood Sam’s and ended in Bourne, are forever in our hearts.
Your asking if we might like to go onto your boat was so very touching, and then taking a photo of us together was very special. I did not have an up-to-date photo, but I do now, for which I am so very much grateful.
As you held Carolyn’s urn, then gently placing it in the ocean which was very comforting and heartwarming, then seeing the beautiful bow (which was her favorite color) disappear slowly, was the end of a journey for Carolyn, with the sun setting and her wishes fulfilled.
Time as we move forward for healing is going to be quite slow, but taking one step at a time and one day at a time hopefully will help with the healing of this unexpected journey that we have been through.
